TSR-BOS Bind-Rune Prosperity, and Bind-Runes in General

TSR-BOS Bind-Rune Prosperity, and Bind-Runes in General

This is my personally created Bind-Rune. It represents the primordial forces of prosperity and growth. Most commonly would be used for "wealth, monetary" prosperity. However I created this to attract and  bring about the influence of "Prosperity" in its most basic sense. Applicable to any individual pursuit of prosperity.

First Fehu makes up the body of the Bind-Rune. Since this is the first installment on Bind-Runes I will briefly describe the concept behind Bind-Runes. Now i spell them on this site as Bind-Runes. However that is not the formal correct way to represent them in print. I do this so as to distinguish their pivotal and foundational role in my work and items created on this site.

BIND-RUNES overview

With Bind-Runes or bind runes. There are several key factors that go into their creation. There are also Several variations of Bind Runes. For my work I mainly utilize three. "Stand Alone", or "Sigil" Style. This is like the one pictured for the main image of this post. They stand as their own Sigil or Rune as their own. The 2nd Major deviation is called "Linear" or "Scroll" Bind runes. These are usually a straight line with the runes involved branching off this straight line. The third is a Hybrid. This Could mean a hybrid between Linear and stand alone, or between runes and other symbols and sigils.

For instance my personal trait with my own created sigils is to often incorporate the rune Uruz. Uruz amongst other things represents "Power". This is a potent rune to add extra umph to any sigil or working. This would technically make my Sigil of Power a Bind-Rune as well.

So more importantly than the types of Bind Runes, are the "rules" or "Mechanics" behind the arrangement of the runes used. In relation to each other (other Runes), in relation to their size, in relation to position in the arrangement in the overall shape or design. There are numerous various different guides and "rules" to go by. The best way to determine what works, is what feels like it will work for you. This applies for all the Occult. Understand the Occult can be broken up roughly into two categories. This is not and end all be all categorization. However in a larger sense you can break things down in the overall operation of the craft at hand. "Peasant or Lower" magick, and "Ceremonial or High magick". Again this isn't meant as a way to debase magick and the occult into super simplistic restrictive parameters.

However High magic is traditionally ultra ritualistic. Pays very close attention to infinitely specific details, correlations, and relationships to things. Often in hyper detail. Lower Magick or Peasant Craft is usually more based in practice of realism. Meaning, it is based more so in incorporating magick into your everyday life. Neither surpasses the other in power, relevance, importance nor validity. These two categories are just that, a neat simplified way to break down the form or implementation of magick. Life is a spectrum however and magick often bridges characteristics of both these categories.

Bind-Runes are no different than the aforementioned categories. Some schools of thought place hyper detail to every single aspect of the Bind-Rune and the Runes involved. On the Other hand, in most common practices that I have found, witnessed and know of. It's as simple as "go with what feels right to you". For me with my creations, its a combination of everything. It all depends on the complexity of the goal at hand for me.

MY PERSONAL TRADITION For creating Bind-Runes

I primarily design Bind-Runes as Stand Alone Sigils. Then, if necessary; I will create a Linear variation.

For Sigil Variations I pick the Rune that expresses THE MOST CONNECTION to the goal at hand. That Rune becomes the body and back bone of the whole Bind-Rune. From there i look for the other runes involved and try to see if using any of them, in any arrangement will bring about the other runes by chance. At this point unless I have another rune that I already know I want to limit or inflate its expression before hand, I don't worry about the size of the other runes being created.

However, if going into the creation of a Bind Rune. I know there is a 2ndary; or third Rune that I want to express more so than the others, or less than the others. I try to negotiate in my mind with the arrangement of those runes to get their size. If need be that's where I will get creative on the arrangements and branches off of the main rune.

In the prosperity Rune it was simple. Fehu is the main Rune to express, then Gebo and Uruz are there to compliment Fehu. Not override it, not combat it. The property of both other runes compliment Fehu with no issues. So this Rune was simple. Other Bind-Runes such as my Bind-Rune of Personal Protection. The Thorn Runes are intentionally muted by smaller sizes, and being represented on the smaller branches of the Algiz Rune. Signifying their (Thorn) operation dependent on Algiz and to not overide its influence overall. This is important Algiz represents defensive posturing and magick. Thorn is too a Rune that is Usable in Defensive magick. However Thorn comes with Overpowering Destructive properties as its instrument of defense. For the Bind-Rune of Personal Protection, I only wanted Thorn there as a sort of reciprocation to aggression not as a main component. Think thorns on a rose stem. In that example the size and placement of the other Runes were carefully taken into consideration.

For Linear Variations its much simpler. There are various complex schools of thought for linear as well. For me MOST OF THE TIME. Not always however; I simply arrange them in level of importance and power of influence. I am a Westerner, so its always top to bottom left to right for me. However I do make linear variations that go in differing directions and arrangements. This is usually to Illustrate the flow of power.

FOR ALL OF MY BIND RUNES, with exceptions obviously. I almost always use Uruz due to its relationship to power. To me it is an important rune in almost all my workings. You do not need to follow this idea. Just my own that I personally go with.

Also creativity and heart. Magick is closely linked with your own heart, intuition, spirit, and personality. GO with what feels right to you. Creativity is encouraged here. If you want to get creative with your Bind-Runes, go for it. I know of someone who has a tradition of making all of their Bind-Runes look like people. I sometimes borrow and adapt that idea.

BIND-RUNE of PROSPERITY

So again, Fehu is the main body of the Bind-Rune. It's exerting its influence of "Wealth, Abundance, Success, and Prosperity" over the Bind Rune as a Whole. For me I usually almost always as Uruz to all my Bind-Runes for power. And Gebo Represents "Gift, Exchange and generosity". I did not want Gebo to be the main influence over the Bind-Rune however it lends an important interjection into the influence. It is a simple Bind-Rune. Perfect for an early entry into the TSR lineup and BOS.
